Qld mental health tribunal response – Anne Miles URN #2198898
GOLD COAST HOSPITAL – PANDANUS UNIT
HEARING DATE – JULY 17TH 2025
HEARING NUMBER – M250601551 Treatment Authority 1st Review
CID REFERENCE: 1028163
CIMHA No.: 1028163
Hello. I’m Anne Miles.
This is my response to involuntary orders for hospital detainment and medications for review by the Tribunal. This is a complex case with legal ramifications and your full immersion and understanding is important and appreciated.
I’d like to highlight the lack of comprehensive assessment before detention and medication, and stress that decisions were made without full investigation of facts or validation of my claims. As a result, there has been a significant emotional and professional toll caused by misdiagnosis and detention, underscoring the urgency for accurate evaluation and respectful treatment.
See the relevant documents to follow for review and download.
Please let me know if you have further questions or would like any other information at any time.
Thank you for your consideration.
Executive Summary – Response for Tribunal Hearing
FACTS VERSUS ASSUMPTIONS
- Treating teams have relied on confirmation bias, making sweeping assumptions about me without properly considering the facts I presented.
- My mediumship abilities have been misunderstood as psychosis, reflecting ignorance and flawed diagnostic criteria. Mediumship is a recognised spiritual practice, not a symptom of psychosis, and that mislabeling it causes harm and misunderstanding.
- Statements I made, including about my qualifications and media profile, were dismissed as ‘grandiose’ without verification, yet all claims are verifiable (below).
- Allegations involving organised crime have been supported by material evidence provided to police; it is inappropriate and beyond the scope of doctors to act as investigators. Misinterpreting this as non-compliance is unfair.
- The diagnosis process has been unlawful and biased, relying on hearsay, circumstantial evidence, and prejudgment, with ongoing investigations into malpractice and fraud that may be influencing current treatment.
- Doctors and treating team overlay their own personal values, subjectivity and assumptions when making diagnosis that isn’t allowing for individuality and high achieving and capable people to be recognised.
PUBLIC SYSTEM IS FAILING ME
- ,The treating team is inconsistent and frequently changing, leading to reliance on outdated and biased reports.
- There is a lack of understanding of ADHD, Fibromyalgia, and mediumship, resulting in inadequate care.
- I am not homeless and have the right to live where I choose.
- I have never declared bankruptcy and have always responsibly managed my self-employed freelance work as a marketer and medium.
- The hospital system is ignorant of Centrelink rules for self-employed people, whereas I am well-informed and more capable in this area.
- My recent mental health symptoms of depression and suicidal thoughts are side effects of medication and wrongful detention, not intrinsic to my mental health or life circumstances, otherwise
- Being hospitalised and medicated has destroyed my sole trader business and professional reputation, severely impacting my life, not the other way around. I consider my mental health is the worst in my lifetime due to this experience and the limitations of the system that doesn’t cater for a unique individual like me
- Impacts on my life include approximately 22 different quality of life values and sizeable financial losses
FALSE REPORTING & ERRORS
- The doctor’s report uses inflammatory language wrongly suggesting non-compliance; I have consistently advocated for myself but never refused agreed treatments.
- I have never breached leave conditions or posed a flight risk once terms were agreed upon; refusals only occurred when medication charts were incorrect and not aligned with doctor’s orders
- I have been proactively seeking mental health support for decades, more effectively than the current treating teams.
- My online expenses during detention have been minimal and reasonable, covering only a necessary and ongoing phone bill plus one small item of a short phone cable for use in hospital (under $100 total)
- Using my superannuation as a semi-retired person of age is my right and a reasonable solution to help support me while in hospital and my income streams broken by hospitalisation and wrongful medication
- Purchases with my super has been for essential business tools, including a laptop for remote work and vital to preserving my livelihood post-hospitalisation. I have not taken a holiday in over 17 years and chose affordable accommodation while making decisions on more permanent housing in Melbourne, Sydney or Melbourne (or across multiple cities as a lifestyle choice)

Victorian Tribunal Submission

Reports: Corruption, Misconduct The Alfred Hospital
POLICE COMPLAINTS – VIC POLICE AND IBAC
After reporting potential organised crime threats and intimidation, including The Alfred Hospital’s potential corruption and misconduct as well as a past history of documented abuse from my ex husband’s family and the police not actioning and active case number it was evident something was not right in their process. I also provided a mediumship reading on crime activities I discovered later revealing Vic Police had a system of potential corruption by not following up on certain crimes and not creating a digital case file. Working with IBAC it was revealed a systemic problem across multiple police stations. IBAC have escalated my case to investigate.
Note: there is valid case precedence to begin an investigation lawfully with mediumship readings, but in Victoria mediumship readings cannot be used as evidence in court however. I propose that NOT following up on a mediumship reading for serious crimes like this could be deemed unlawful in fact, given this case precedence.
Next steps: IBAC to confirm case investigation – Date TBC
COMPLAINT TO HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION, THE ALFRED

Research and science on spiritual and consciousness technology
SPIRTUALITY VERSUS PSYCHOSIS – RESEARCH
A robust research project by Professors Grof and Grof in USA has been undertaken with robust criteria discussing the difference between a spiritual emergency or emergence and psychosis. This formed part of Dr Perera’s assessment of me to confirm I wasn’t experiencing Psychosis in the past and had become a medium.
A CURATION OF THE LATEST IN SCIENCE AND PSYCHOLOGY
In my spiritual school blog I have collected a number of resources on science and spirituality including reports and discussions from psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, physicists, mathematicians and other scientists discussing consciousness technologies and the latest evidence. This blog is titled ‘Nerdy Stuff’ and can be searched by industry sector and specialisations. This blog includes a recent review of the above Grof and Grof research to ascertain currency.
My public profile
My background and abilities have been described as ‘grandiose’ by the consulting teams, however I’ve never mentioned anything that can’t be supported by a very basic fact check. Google ‘Anne Miles marketing’, ‘Anne Miles ageism’ or ‘Anne Miles stereotypes’ to find many of them yourself as validation. The latest SBS Insight program episode titled ‘Taboo Relationships’ is at the link below.
I’m a regular in media and trade publications in marketing and advertising on industry leadership topics including the impact of harmful stereotypes in media, marketing and advertising linked with domestic violence, bullying and mental health problems. I’ve appeared in the media over 100 times with the most recent on age discrimination on SBS Insight over the last month (pre-recorded). I’m entrepreneurial and with a high level of integrity about transparency and ethics. I stand up for what is right.
My personal life and hobbies are detailed in my self-assessment documents and you’ll find I’m generally independent, capable, creative, spiritual (not the belief kind but based on science and proven protocols) and generally very fit and well.
See links below to validate my background and qualifications.
Financial and Psychological Impact
ESTIMATED IMPACT
The wrongful diagnosis and hospitalisation has had significant impact on me personally, professionally and financially. The final evaluation is pending confirmation but this is an outline without consultation with a lawyer and the final damages unknown at time of writing, pending Tribunal outcomes. Likely impacted areas of life and business could come close to $1M even without consideration of potential criminal charges.
